One of the first and cheapest mods lot of L36 owners do is get rid of the u-bend after the CAT convertor and before the resonator. Plus a good hi-flow CAT does wonders. I got a Magnaflow Hi-Flow CAT for my '99 Regal LS for $55 and deleted the u-bend.

Here are some links to sites that may give you an idea what is out there:

You're welcome. Here is a link showing the u-bend delete. Of course, I wouldn't buy theirs. A mom & pop muffler shop can do it a lot cheaper.

The rear 02 sensor must be retained or you will get odb-ii DTC error codes and a SES light. The shop will add a 14mm universal bung to mount the sensor. Good luck!

Really not much available like aftermarket products compared to the '97 and up. But exhaust mods like bigger OD plumbing from the downpipe to the CAT convertor (2.5") helps along with a hi-flow CAT convertor. Magnafow hi-flow CATs for a GM car runs around $55.00 so I'd classify it as a cheap HP upgrade.

For intake you might be able to gut the airbox and modify it with a home made CAI/FWI.
