1996 escort motor

i just bought a 1996 ford escort with a hosed motor. im looking for a good used motor in the socal area for cheap. the car is a 2 door lx i was wondering if its possible to do a gt swap.

damn well ill either drop anoth 1.9l motor in there with its 88 horsepower of furry or try to do a gt swap. it seems like the gt motors are going for cheaper then the 1.9l 88 hp motors. if you know of a lace in socal where i can get a cheap 1.9l motor please let me know.

If you do a GT swap, you'll need a hell of a lot more then just the engine, you'll need a complete GT donar and a lot of spare time.

Now, you did'nt say any thing about the 97 2.0 8 valve engine. It has 110hp/125tq and is all most a direct drop in to a 2nd gen LX.
