2000 Odyssey, sliding door problem $1000 later

My passenger side sliding door stooped working so I had to close it manually. After doing so, I couldn't get it opened at all, manually or automatically.
The dash light came on and the buzzer kept sounding, so I turned off the sliding door switch.
I took the car in to the dealer for repair and $1069.54 later, they had to replace a roller of some sort for $75 and the door motor for $500 something plus labor.

This one of those things where the customer is at the mercy of the dealer. How do I know the motor was bad. After reading some of the forum posts it might have been the fuse 13/contact issue.

How do I know if the contact/washer update has ever been done?

Honda's are beginning to leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I never had this much problem with my Pontiac TransSport.

Ugh!

Cool Re: 2000 Odyssey, sliding door problem $1000 later

Is it the driver side sliding door? If so, with the driver door open, use your left hand to reach behind the driver seat and hold the manual door lock forward. Use your right hand to pull the outside door handle. If the door opens, it's the fuel filler door switch.

My '99 had similar problem, found out i had a bad switch on the fuel filler door. Normally when the fuel filler door is open, it locks the driver side sliding door, so it doesn't crush the ffd. i replaced the lock, the motor, everything till we figured it out. My Mechanic didn't charge me for the switch because he already replaced all the other stuff...

Thanks for the information.

My problem was with the pasenger door.

It just quit working one day, so I closed it by hand. When I did so, my wife said she heard something breaking inside. After that I coudn't get it opened.

Was some roller thing that broke and then the dealer said the motor tested bad.
