Re: OLD school V new school...
The RX8 wasn't really designed to replace the RX7 and no, it isn't the hardcore sports car that the RX7 was, but it is alot easier to live with. The RX8 is a much more driver friendly car. If you arn't into that, theres rumors flying all over the place about a true RX7 replacement.
You can't compare the R34 GT-R to the G35, realistically you should only compare it to the lesser R34 Skylines, which were supposedly pretty terrible. The G35 wasn't meant to replace the GT-R, but if you do want a GT-R, wait for Nissan to finally release their new GT-R concept as a real car. It is going into production and should have ~450hp, AWD. Toyota hasn't had a sports car for a little while now, which is kinda sad. The soon to be biggest car company in the world doesn't have a sports car... If you doubt Toyota's intentions towards power, look no further then the new Altezza (IS350 for us in the US and Europe). The Altezza is a truely world class sports sedan that competes well with BMW's 3-series. Toyota has said that they would release a new supercar/sports car once their F1 team wins a race, which might be a while if they keep racing like they did in Bahrain last weekend. Honda has fallen behind a bit in sports cars too, but not quite as badly as Toyota. Yes, the NSX is dead, but there will probably be a replacement in a few years. The S2000 is still an amazing sports car capable of competing with the likes of BMW's Z4 and Mercedes SLK.
