Totaled my car

Well, I totaled my Camaro on the first. I was coming around a corner, lost traction, and there was somebody coming at me. So I pulled it back into my lane and it just kept going that direction until it went into the ditch (two lane road) and flipped me. I was wearing my seatbelt so I stayed awake through the whole thing and saw it all. When I stopped sliding I unbuckled myself while hanging upside down, crawled to the passenger side and rolled the window and crawled out. I jumped up and there were four guys standing there. They made me lay down and I saw that I was bleeding pretty bad from my hand. Apparently my arm broke the window out and the road ate two big chunks of my hand. They said you could see bone, tendons and all of that. So I had surgery the next day, they sewn up my elbow, let me out in two days, and my life is on pause for the next two months probably.

The car is totaled. The whole driver side is smashed in really bad. The top on the drivers side came down on me and busted my head open (it healed in a few days) and the passenger side is untouched. The engine, transmission, everything that drives the car except for the drivers front wheel is untouched.

Now I have to sell my baby and get something else. I'm 18 with not much in the bank so I'm stuck with getting something in the 2000-3000 dollar range. Here's where I need advice: what to get? I don't want a honda or acura. I would take a Nissan or Mitsu (I'm desperate), but I want a Blazer. Everyone but my dad is trying to force me into a cavalier (as they have since I turned 15, and I bet I wouldn't have survived the wreck in one). Any suggestions from you guys? I think you all will tell me the truth on other cars since I'm not buying another F-body right now.

Re: Totaled my car

Damn, you could a get a decent 3rd gen for that price. A really good one at that.

Re: Totaled my car

I know its an unholy thing to think about but hondas for regular cars arent that bad. You can beat the crap out of them and they keep ticking.

Thats true. Don't even need to be maintained. You could save 15% on car insurance.

Re: Totaled my car

Sorry to hear about the car. Glad you were able to walk away though. Check out autotrader.com and www.cars.com they usually have some pretty good deals on blazers and such.

Re: Totaled my car

I'm not buying a honda on personal reasons. I know you can say thats ignorant or whatever but I'm not budging on that. I figure I'll end up with a blazer if I'm lucky or a cavalier if I just can't stand waiting anymore.

Re: Totaled my car

i'll try to get pics of my hand and car on here in a few days. I'm looking for suggestions other than cavaliers and hondas if you all have them. I'd like to have room for my stuff and room to do stuff *wink wink* in my car. The Camaro really suprised me with its capability for those two functions. I was even getting great gas mileage too (25 mpg+).

Re: Totaled my car

Man, sorry to hear about that, glad you're alright though. I've always wanted to get a Suzuki Sidekick/Geo Tracker. Those things are sweet. Also wouldn't mind getting a Daihatsu Rocky.. I love little off road cars, they're so much fun to drive. So if you're into off roading and great gas mileage, those would be something to look into.

Re: Totaled my car

Good to hear that you're alright. Sorry about the car too, that sucks. I totaled my last Z last year. I heard that the cabins are real sturdy on these cars. Before I discovered the f-body world, I was considering a dodge intrepid or stratus. Little v-6 that is acrually pretty comortable. I don't know prices, but they might be something to look into.
