Cool Peregrine Falcons Cam

http://blogs.indystar.com/falconblog/

I'm not sure on how many Nature Nuts we hav here at AF, but I hav been watching these Falcons for almost 2 years. Thought I'd share this blog/live Falcon Cam with everyone. Right now thier are three eggs in the nest and a fourth should be on its way soon.

I havnt been to Indy myself to see these birds, unlike some other nuts, but if your lucky in a few weeks thier will be some eggs hatching, and soon they will fly off the ledge. I think its kool they live way up on a building in the city.

Just scroll to the bottom of the linked page, and you can view pics in real time(Live). I thought It would be neat if they had a Cam that recorded short videos to view, might catch them flying in/out of the nest or eggs a hatching.

Enjoy!

Re: Peregrine Falcons Cam

A webcam right there would be cool. It would be a little boring for the most part, but they could have a email update when something happens. It would be neat to watch them hatch

thats what I was thinking too, web cam and boring to watch all day anyways.
I havnt seen any hatchings myself. Seen the last ones(last year) just after they poped out of thier shells.
Hard to believe they learn to fly so quickly. Guess they like the warm up drafts the city makes, easier to fly around I suppose, accually glide mostly(conserve energy).

Re: Peregrine Falcons Cam

yeah, i used to watch some webcams. mainly for ghosts in different places that had them. with broadband though, kinda cool that i could just leave the window up and running so if i ever walk by my computer i may happen to see something.

EDIT: reload time is a minute? damn. cool though, when i first clicked, there one is laying down. so awesome!

Re: Peregrine Falcons Cam

last year I saw them progress and it was kool as shit. And before you know it they'll be flying. Feeding time is neat too, never know whats for dinner

Ya the pics reload every minute or so. I like the link with both pics, so you can see them both if they are in the nest. The male is usually sitting on the ledge, I guess shoping for food

Re: Peregrine Falcons Cam

Bo' Selecta =

I thought thier were laws against keeping Falcons for pets...
I guess thiers several movies over the years that hav had Falcons, Like Beast Master.

But at one time, if not still today, they are limited in the wild. Thats why this Falcon cam is so important I suppose, to get thier numbers up again.
I've heard a farmers shoting them, thinking they were going to steal thier livestock, that crazy! Maybe small children but not farm animals :lol

Re: Peregrine Falcons Cam

I was hoping for something like a helmet cam. Showing a dive from 2,000ft in the air.
