How many times does it blink and then pause?
You may need a new clockspring kit.

Why did you buy a $40K vehicle and not a $100 Factory Service Manual?

It's the part under the steering wheel which controls the electrical functions of the air bag, cruise control, horn, etc. gotta disable the air bag, remove the steering wheel and follow the instructions in the kit. Can only get the kit from Ford. About $100. Replaced the one on my 91 for the same code..all better now.

Re: 91 Blinking air bag light?

Great info and thanks!!!!

My horn button stopped working about two weeks before the blinking started.

Any additional info on the removal and install would be great too...

Thanks again!

I would feel it safer for you to either go down to the local library and pick up a service manual that shows the Air Bag Disarming Procedure and the Clockspring Removal Procedure. Or get a 1 year subscription to an online service manual at www.alldatadiy.com
This is not an area to skimp on safety procedures.

I have the same kind of problem with my 92. The air bag light blinks 5 times then pauses and blinks 2 times. Then repeats the entire thing over and over again. Everything else seems to be working but the blinking light is not only annoying but worrisome in terms of safety issues. Please help!

Listen to Stevo! Airbags are VERY dangerous to work with if you dont know what your doing. If you decide to do it yourself, make sure your battery cable is disconnected. Airbags are explosive devices. I've done alot of airbag jobs, and i still wont sit in the drivers seat when turning the key on for the first time.

Believe me if the code is something really serious I will be the first to take it to the shop!
