9006 HID Conversion kits
I saw these on Ebay...i was just wondering if these were any good? Would the filament inside the actual bulb be in a different location than a halogen 9006 bulb?

Re: 9006 HID Conversion kits
The best/safest way to convert to HID into a halogen headlamp, is to do a projector retrofit... This is because it has a cutoff line... Without it youll blind the piss out of ppl... Plus the halogens have the reflective background and a fluted lens which willl spread the beam way out on the road (needed for a halogen, but not good for HIDs)... But some ppl still get them... I dont know if I would... But they dont have any H4H (my JDM headlights are H4Hs) conversion kits... Id have to fab something up... But yea, in theory, if its made for a 9006 it should be placed in the same location... It may even have some kind of cutoff line (not like a real projector would tho) to prevent blinding ppl...

Re: 9006 HID Conversion kits
Yeah definitly get a quality kit, dont go cheap. I got a 8000k Verox HID kit, I had seen their name around several places and heard good things. But I got a H1 type, because my aftermarket projectors took that. I do know they made the kit for several types. I've had them since Feb. 2005 and I've had no problems, I really love em. Highly Recommend verox. Cost about 400 bucks. Here's where I bought them.

I had a set of the eBay projectors (they are actually Sonar brand) with the intention of going HIDs, but they came with a sticker that said "No HID" on them... So you have to be careful... Im not sure why, my first thought was they would melt the housing, but I dont think they burn and hotter than halogen... It could be just an anti-lawsuit measure incase u do use them with HIDs and they blind someone they cant go sue the company... But going that route may be better since they already have a cut off line in the projector... |
