DPFE Sensor

I need to replace the DPFE Sensor on my 2000 Windstar. AutoZone does not stock , NAPA doesn't carry it , nor does O"Reilly's. I hate to have to by it from Ford! I've had no luck surfing the net either. Any suggestions?

Re: DPFE Sensor

FYI
Ford has redesigned them in a black plastic case (origionally aluminium) and they are about $75. When I was pricing Ford was about the same price as the parts counter at Walmart.

Re: DPFE Sensor

Mine is 2001 Windstar. I bought DPFE sensor at Ford dealer shop for $35 about six month ago, which was lowest price I had ever seen.

Re: DPFE Sensor

My AutoZone in Laurel, MD carried it for my 2000 Windstar. Annoyingly, it was the older metal-style, not the newer black plastic case style.

DRW1000 - You have a WalMart that has an auto parts counter? Nothing like that around here...

Re: DPFE Sensor

teamfordparts.com has it for $56.10, plus shipping.

I think the parts counter is an experimental thing. Walmart actually rents the counter to a company than can supply parts usuaally with a day's notice. I have only seen them in a couple of Walmarts around the Toronto area. Normally in Canada a lot of us go to a huge chain called Canadian Tire but they often have inferior parts.

Re: DPFE Sensor

The WalMart parts counter idea is very interesting. While I live in the US, I've heard legendary stories about Canadian Tire!

My frustration with parts: There tend to be "real" parts places that mostly cater to repair shops. They offer good advice and good quality parts; the price can be higher, but I'm generally willing to pay it when I need "real" parts. And there are retail auto parts stores that tend to have lesser quality parts and less experienced staff (but much better prices).

But the "real" places tend to stock poorly when it comes to common maintenance items (filters, fluids, tune-up items) and charge overly high prices for them. So I end up going to one of the retail chains (AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, Pep Boys, etc.) for such things, and another trip to a "real" parts store for "real" parts. I'd love to see someone combine the two sales models into a single business.

Re: DPFE Sensor

Ford quoted me a price of $125. Sounds high to me. I did replace this one time with on from Autozone. Now the are telling me that it has been discontinued. The are offering me my money back if I bring the old one back in. The one from Auto Zone was black plastic. I'm not for sure what the one from Ford will be.

Re: DPFE Sensor

Mellennium Ford in Seattle lists the part for $54.29. The replacement part is black plastic verses aluminium.

Re: DPFE Sensor

Just curious, how many miles do you have on your 2000? I was able to get my dealer to replace the DPFE sensor in my '01 under the emissions warranty.
