Questions/99 Taurus
Got an EGR flow error on our 99 Taurus. In reading through past posts, looks like the DPFE sensor might be the culprit. I called a few places for prices. Ford dealer wants 110.00.....AZ wants 48.00. First question...are the aftermarket sensors worth a crap? Second question...after I replace the sensor, can I reset the 'service engine' light by disconnecting battery, or do I need to have someone clear the code with a scanner. I've heard conflicting answers....anyone know for sure? Last question....can I safely disable DRL module by pulling a fuse and still have headlights? If so, which fuse controls DRL? Trying to get a few of these little problems fixed before I sell the car. It has 120 K miles, and I've decided to sell before I have to R&R the tranny.
TIA for your replies. Danno |

Re: Questions/99 Taurus
I had the DPFE sensor go on my 98 Taurus and I used an after-market. Haven't had a problem with it since. You can go to Advance Auto or Auto ZOne and they should have a reader that can re-set your SES for free. As to the DRL, I haven't a clue, but I would start with trying to find the DRL sensor and disconnect it and try it, then maybe the fuse option next. See what happens and go from there. Good luck
