98 VW beetle No Start..!?? Help Please!! my moms car!

Hey everyone! I have a problem with my moms 98 Vw Beetle and the problem is that it wont start. Before the car completely died my mom said it ran and when she got to a red light.. the car just shut off.. Then Later on after i went and got her she all the sudden started the car back up. So now the car is shutting off for and sometimes it will start. Now this time the car wont start for good. So does anyone know what can be causing this problem? The car has been in our shop for 2 weeks now and we can figure out whats wrong with it. We check all the fuses, relays (i think), ECM and nothing is blown. We also checked out the fuel pump wich seems to be ok.. so does anyone knows what else i should check?? Please help me out!

If its an auto try the transmission isolater switch which checks that you are in park or neutral to start - sometime they get out of adjustment....other wise its a proccess of elimination.

Well... There is not power to the injectors i believe... You know what can be causing it. And yes its an auto... which sucks because whenever you put it in gear.. it stalls a little. But yeah my dad says it might ahve a fuel problem??? Do they have a fuel pump relay anywhere?

If there is no power to the injectors then it is electrical not fuel problem. Like I said before, check the isolater switch on the auto gear Tbar. Also does the car crank over? With the ignition on you should hear the fuel pump running inside the fuel tank or check the wires to the pump to see if they are carrying current. If it stall a bit when put in gear and you think the injectors are dirty then put in a can of injector cleaner next time you fill with petrol.

THe car turns over but it wont start. As for the fuel pump its fine. We checked it out and its pumping so that is ok. Now we also check all the fuses which non is blown. So now we dont know where to look. I mean... we are stuck and y dad doesnt want to take it to the dealership. As for the isolator switch. It is fine So now here to look..?

Re: 98 VW beetle No Start..!?? Help Please!! my moms car!

There is an ecm power supply relay. In box above brake fluid resivour
Faulty ect can cause no start.
No power to injectors? cranking or when ign is on?

The ecm is under the top dash pannel on the driver side. The shift interlock solenoid (what the other guy is referring to) is activated by a brake light switch (which is very common problem) But if the lever is in P and the light is lit its ok.
