Unhappy 98 Town and Country fried wires, bad idle

I had a wire bundle that runs across the back of the engine drop onto a hot portion of the engine melt, and short out several wires in the bundle. One was definitely from the battery to the alternator. Had the wires repaired, but now the car will not idle. It will start and drive, but when you take your foot off the gas, it will fluctuate between 2000 rpm and almost stalling. Any suggestions? Did the shorting wires burn up something in my idle circuit? Help!!!
