hey, i'm turboing a ka24de. i know the stock rods are forged and pretty strong along with the crank but i'm replacing the pistons, rings, stiffer valve springs, titanium valves, headgasket along with the rebuild kit itself and a new fuel rail and injectors...
my question is for the ones who've researched these items. whos the best for the money. i was thinking about wiseco pistons and rings but thats only because i can get them for about $500 also looking for a complete rebuild kit for the least amount. anyone??? i have looked and searched and looked some more but i need the professionals to point me in the right directions. give me sites, brand names, prices... whatever you want. anything is appreciated thanks - |

Re: rebuild kit and internals - Need Help
i can't help you with finding the parts because i don't know whats better than what. i could give you different manufacturers but that wouldnt help much.. i'm sure someone will know a little bit about it..
make sure to keep us updated on this project. take some pictures and note everything you do. it will help others out in the future

Re: rebuild kit and internals - Need Help
you can get wiseco, arias, JE, most pistons for around 500 if you look in the right place. any are good.
projectsilvia has a cheap topfeed fuel rail, many different companies make good injectors. btw stock KA and SR are sidefeed injectors. im doing a ka-t buildup and im piecing together the parts, not buying a kit. clevite bearings are some of the best, any stuff that is cheap get OEM nissan parts. fel-pro gaskets and nissan genuine gasket sealer are good. get OEM style rings(theyll probably come with the pistons). gapless rings arent any better really. ummm, the only valvesprings and valves i have seen are supertech, and i think theyre ok but i dont know for sure. if you find some let me know. ask me about any other brands, chances are i know them

Re: rebuild kit and internals - Need Help
does anyone know if the later SR20's 6 speed tranny will mount up to an KA? just wondering if anyones done it and if there is a benifit in the extra gearing. right now i have a 5 speed but always looking for another project. thanks

Re: rebuild kit and internals - Need Help
no it wont bolt up without a custom adapter or something, which im pretty sure no one makes. theres not really any benefit other than slight acceleration and gas mileage increases. but the 6-speed has thinner gears and tends to break at around 300-350whp. although there are drift cars with 400whp running the stock 6speed, so its sort of hit or miss.

Re: rebuild kit and internals - Need Help
yeah, just thought id ask, i checked the faqs and the info i gather is that the sr and ka 5 speeds are strong enough to handle a good amount of power and that the 6 speed, if it were posible to swap the bell housings {which its not}, would be alot of time and effort without alot of reasonable gain other than the fact that you can now say your 240 has a 6 speed. thanks though for your 2 cents man

Re: rebuild kit and internals - Need Help
i'm not sure which i'll pick, i'm still waiting on an email back from enthalpy just to see how much it'll run me.
i have another question but i don't wanna start another thread just to ask so if anyone can help me out i'd appreciate it- has anyone ever swapped a skyline instrument cluster into an s14? someone selling one from an r33 told me its plug and play but i'm not sure i believe it considering its shaped differently and it has an oil gauge and i think a boost gauge aswell?... idk. anyone clarify? |
