Advice

I know that a lot of questions on here pertain to whats needed for repairs etc.

I am in the same boat as I am not mechanically inclined but generally know the general concept of how cars work, but can't work on them etc.

What would you all recommend for us people to become better informed about vehicles so when they do have to take it in, they don't get ripped off?

It's a strange question, but I hope I came across clear. A lot of people get ripped off for unnecessary repairs and I, as others want to be more knowledgeable to prevent that.

Thanks.

Re: Advice

Post your issue here, and even if you don't plan on doing the work yourself, you'll have an idea as to what need to be done. That way, some fly-by-night scam artist can't charge you $$$$$$ for $ worth of work.

Re: Advice

If possible take it to more than one repair shop or dealer and get quotes or estimates before any work is started. That way you will get more than one professional opinion to decide if you are getting ripped off. I make it a habit to do a Better Business Bureau check on the business. If they have a bad BBB record then don't do business with them. If it is work I cannot do DIY then I get nothing less than 3 estimates. The same goes for repair parts.

Getting ripped off is a common occurance every day in the good ole USA.
