Rear Differential Fluid Change...
When changing the rear differential fluid do I need to take the rear plate off to drain the fluid or is there a release valve or bolt somewhere? I found where I insert the fluid, but not the drain bolt. I have a 2000 5.7 liter with old body style with four wheel drive. Please help!!! Thanks, Skip

Oh yeah, that goes for the front diff too.

Re: Rear Differential Fluid Change...
Rear diff, you will have to take off the cover plate to drain the fluid. I like to put a new gasket in when I change the fluid.
Front diff should have a drain plug so you will not have to remove the cover to drain. //2000CAYukon |

Re: Rear Differential Fluid Change...
If you want a good gear oil, use royal purple, may cost a little more but well worth it.

Re: Rear Differential Fluid Change...
Sounds like a plan, I'll check out the local auto parts stores and see if they have it in stock. Thanks, Skip

Re: Rear Differential Fluid Change...
And if postive track rear end use the correct fluid or the additive for it.
