Question VW Passat engine siezure

I have a VW Passat which is four years old. I was driving it when suddenly it stop. The engine could not crank at all and it had to be towed to the workshop.
The service mechanics said water went into my engine from the throttle manifold which is cooled by a water jacket, They said also this has caused the cylinder and piston to rust hence the siezure of the engine.
I have recently done the 60,000 km service where they said they had changed the timing belt and other componets.
They said two piston connecting rods are bent. I think they are not telling me what excatly is the problem and the cause.
Please i need some help explaining this

Re: VW Passat engine siezure

It sounds like the oil was not properly delivered to some parts. It's usually sludge that glogges up the oil holes. My understanding of that is if different oils were used (i.e. pensoil, castrol, mama/papa oil) then the different additives do not mix, hense producing oil sludge--hardened materials. I think only solution is the synthetic oil which has smaller molecules and last longer too. Also, i think you can see it from the top of the oil filling cap, when removed.

As far as rust in the engine, if car was run at least once per day or two days, then rust should not seize the engine, but worn out the rings, in my opinion.

Get your receipts from oil change, if you have any and go from there, or find out what oil was used in your car.

Good luck.

Re: VW Passat engine siezure

there is no "water cooling" of the intake. The only way you could get water into the intake is if you drove in a deep puddle, and even then the water would have to pass through the hot turbo, intercooler, then into the intake... by then it would have evaporated...

timing belt is not reccomended untill 80k miles not KM , 60k km is what, 45k miles???
