Couple Questions maybe someone can answer for me...

Im going Saturday to either get a 89 beretta or an 88 beretta. I wont know which one till i drive them both and see. Tommorow im going to call the salesman direct because i don't think they get the emails from autoshopper.Im going to get mileages and VINS.Ive been reading over a couple beretta sites like berettanet and 60v6 etc and from the cavalier my sister has thats where some questions appear.

1. I was told the injectors go bad on these. Both have the 2.8 motor. The guy who told me said this to me told me they run about 60 dollars. Is this true?

2. Does new rotors and pads about once a year seem right? Ive been reading some threads on here and at the couple different retta sites that say it depends on the how heavy the right foot and also due to poor rear brake setup.

3.This one comes from experiences in tracing a water leak in a 92 Cavy. Besides checking the obvious, the floors the seats, the trunk, and what not, any other places to look for possible water leaks? I found a great read on the one site on how to re waterproof these cars which will probally be done regardless.

4. The 89 has a sunroof.Any known problems with them?

5. 2.25" exhaust all around? Left over from the v8 swap i have a 2.25" hi flow cat and raptor muffler which should bolt on correct? and then help out with mpg.

6. Anyone got torque specs? I know they have around 125-130 HP on the old 2.8 v6s but what about torque. Lol i never had a FWD vehicle so some of this may sound dumb.

7. Any other stuff i can check out before i decide on which one? Suspension im going to look at.

Any answers would be cool and thanks for any info.

Re: Couple Questions maybe someone can answer for me...

My experiances with Berattas and Corsicas will let me help you on the brakes but little else on your particular questions. We have owned several (both cars use same parts and same GM service manuals) and the 89 Beretta we had almost dollared us to death. It was a 2.2 though not a 2.8. We have had 3.1,s and 2.2's, both good engines but subject to leaks, head gaskets, cracked heads, or, even broken head bolts (as we had on the 89). This car had 177K miles on though so not surprisingly we had to put parts on it often. Generally though they are easy to work on compared to a lot of vehicles. I have heard nothing good about 2.8's but have not owned one myself. Brakes are going to be a regular item to replace (front) as they do most of the work. Good news is brake parts are cheap, so just throw a set of rotors and pads on it once in a while and you are fine. I think our 91(which we bought new) goes thru them about every 15K or so although my son seems to be getting less now that he is driving it. We live on a steep hill and he is not a very experianced driver yet. Would not let the brakes concern me on these cars. Generally they are a LOT easler to deal with than Blazers(which I have one too and I frequent the Blazer forum) and are nice cars. We had an afermarket sunroof put in so it was not factory. Unsure about the rest of your questions. Sorry not more help. The 89 in my opinion was a nicer looking car. As for water leaks, firewall and door seals along with trunk seals are only things we have had any problems with and minor at that.

Idk im back on the hunt for one. He sold the 88 on me and i dont want to finance the 89 due to high mileage. His email said it has around 220k on the clock so that doesnt seem good for me.
