Lt1 swap
i own a 95 Z28
my question is the engine is shot, its spun a rod needs a new crank blah blah blah.........price speadshop says 2500 for a rebuild ive found a used 93 Lt1 with 45000 miles on her for well under 2000, the tricking thing is that its out of a vette, but still has the wiring harness. can it be swapped? there both six-speeds if that matters

Re: Lt1 swap
since you have your motor, have your lt1 built to a 383 stroker!!

Re: Lt1 swap
your 95 has vented optic spark but i don't know if that will change any wiring because the 93 has non vented. Other wise it should bolt right in.

Re: Lt1 swap
It will fit but you need to change a few things on the block. Like the motor mounts are obviously different. To get the Driveside mount in you need to remove the extra knock sensor. The coolant temp sensor is on the wrong side of the engine so you need to remove that plug from the head and switch it for the coolant temp sensor. The wiring harness needs to be swapped for your current engine. The accessory bracket needs to be switch from your current engine. The intake manifold and fuel rail need to be switched and you might need a little fab work on the starter hook up. Also the oil pump strainer needs to be changed to a f-body one and the oil pan needs to be swapped for your old one (make sure you clean it out good cause there will be metal shaving in the old pan and you don't want that running in the vette engine's oil stream.

Re: Lt1 swap
Also, the exhaust manifold needs to be switched.
