tranny interchange
may need a tranny for 95.
what years will fit (both caddy and olds) mines got the autobahn package(3.71 gear) so I know that Im limited. I dont think I want to go the rebuilt route its not worth $1500 to do. |

Re: tranny interchange
I have seen them on ebay for very little rebuilt ($750) and even after shipping your under $1000. Don't know if this helps.I wouldn't go with a junk unit unless you know it had been rebuilt.

Have you changed one out to another gear ratio without any problems? |

Re: tranny interchange
No actually I haven't but the case is the exact same, only differerence is the final gear ratio. Its all mechanical, nothing electrically is different. Speedo won't be affected either.

Re: tranny interchange
The speedo may be affected. It depends on where the pickup is, before or after the diff. I don't know, maybe someone can say for sure.

Re: tranny interchange
I went all out and got one from Detroit with a 3 year warranty. Didn't want to take a chance with rebuilt as taking out this piece is a monster. My suggestion, get a crate one from GM. At least you get the 50,000 mile warranty and they will repair or replace. Anybody else tooling these trans, well, who would take that chance?
