Re: 2002 Buick Rendezvous BCM Replacement
Physical replacement isn't that difficult I don't think, but it has to be programmed at dealer. Why do you need a new one?

Re: 2002 Buick Rendezvous BCM Replacement
I am about to replace my BCM also. I have talked with the dealer and it seems to point towards the BCM.
The problems I am having is the radio will go into "locked" mode, the traction will go off, it will go ding ding ding..display message center will say "service engine soon". The dealer told me that the BCM didn't have to be programmed. Is this not correct? Thanks... Golferdude |

Re: 2002 Buick Rendezvous BCM Replacement
To the best of my knowledge (I have Pontiac version), the BCM does have to be programmed to have things work correctly. I did hear of one person (Pontiac again) who obtained a used one that at least sorta worked (not everything was quite right though). Also of possible interest, I heard one one person that was having BCM related issues that took some time and cleaned all the connections to BCM and also fuses related to BCM stuff with electronic cleaner to clean up oxidation (corrosion)and surprise surprise their problems all went away and have not returned yet. That is something I have suggested here and there as possible solution, but its the first time I've heard of it being tried (and it appears to work, in at least this case)

Re: 2002 Buick Rendezvous BCM Replacement
I did have to get it reprogrammed.
The airbag rediness light stayed on and the radio was "locked". I took it to the dealer, they charged $49 to reprogram it and everything worked great. That was yesterday. This morning, my wife went out to go to work, put the key in, tried to start it, and nothing. The radio came on, blower came on, but nothing. So now I am trouble shooting that. Someone told me to check to see what the "Security" light does when the key is on when it won't start and check the voltage to the starter solenoid. So that is my next mission. |

Re: 2002 Buick Rendezvous BCM Replacement
Golferdude , I think I would be real suspicious about battery/cable connections/charging system. The electronics are pretty sensitive to voltage flucuations and BCM stuff can be affected first. I could suggest getting an active load test of battery/charging system
