opinions please!!

Hey all I was curious as to what you all thought would be the best plan for me!!! I have a 91 civic si with a few mods to the engine but mostly show and I decided it was time for a little go!! so here are my options!! 1. Greddy turbo kit
2. Jackson Racing supercharger
3. b18 engine swap
4. Nitrous

So I am curious as to what would be the best for my car! any input will help I just want to make sure I spend my money on the right thing!! Thanks for the help!:alien:

I would go with B18, since it has more Torque. You could later on Turbo or Supercharge that. But I wouldn't waste time Charging your old SOHC Motor, the gains wouldn't be that great. And I would stay away from Nitrous since it's better to have more power all the time than only when you got the juice.

I am just unsure of the cost of the swap and the time and labour I will have to put in to do an engine swap! I heard from a friend that a turbo kit would be my best bet but I just don't know which I would prefer. won't I get more power if I put a turbo on my engine now?

Still, I would take a B18. But B18 is like $3000 or more for a swap. You would be better off doing a B16A, it's cheaper but still damn good and has VTEC.

b16 is actually a better engine IMHO than b18 because i belive that the vtec in b16 is better (?) plus its cheaper.

put the nitrous thought out of your head...i would suggest turbo over that any day.

if you got turbo, i believe you could use the same set-up with a y8/z6 should you ever want to go v-tec. as i was just saying in another thread...long story short...there are some 4th gens with turbo y8/z6 running 9-12 psi and they beat b16's. actually (i know i shouldn't say anything...i'm gonna start a riot.... ) i know of a d16a6 running 12psi that beat a b16 and didn't break 5000rpm (on a "junkyard" T25 set-up).

a lot of people quickly dismiss the sohc d-series...this is one of the reasons i am so drawn to it. when someone says they have a swap you expect them to say one out of the b series...you don't expect them to say turbo d16y8. i like to be the underdog tearing sh*t up

No B16A isn't out of the 92-95 Civic. B16A is out of the 4G JDM Si-R (usually the one that goes in our cars). I believe that the best Del Sols 93-97(?) had B16As. And of course the 99-00 Si had a B16A. They are difference Generations I believe though.

It is unfair to compare a B16 to a Y8 Turbo...Turbo is just an add on. Why not compare each one with a turbo, then definitely B16 would be stronger...but now the B18 comes into picture...B16 vs B18 turbo...handsdown the B18 would be my choice and many others.
Just my .02 cents.

Honestly any B-series is a great engine, you can't go wrong.

okay the only problem with the b18 turbo is we are talking serious cash and I do have a lot but not that much so I am not sure if that would be the best for me! where do i get a d16y8? how much? what is it out of? I think it might be kinda cool to have a sohc non vtec with a turbo that can eat up the stangs and camaros! don't you? I am sooo confused! .... aaaahhh! what do I do?
