3.1 turbo

[3.1L 200+hp]

i was just wondering if it was possible to buy a turbo or supercharger for my 91 firebird. And if so whats the difference between the two of them. Because a buddy of mine suggested it

Turbo works by spinning an impeller with exhaust gasses, impeller forces air into the throttle body. Supercharger works by a pulley driven impeller, end result is the same as a turbo. Turbos require cooling lines etc. Personally, go with a supercharger, easier to install.

i have the money i mean my car is making over 200 hp right now without one im curious as to what it will do with one and where i can get one thanx for your help

How do you know it is making over 200 HP?

My best guess is probably a custom turbo kit for that particular motor.
And there are a TON of things that can/will affect the power you would make.

just bottel feed it, cheeper and will probly get more power out of it.but don't just strap a bottel to it and run it, upgrade the fuel system as needed.

What exactly have you done to get 200+ hp out of your 3.1? If you don't mind me asking, just curious.

I would like to know also , the series 3 3800s in the Grand prix's and monte carlos are pushing 200 . but the older engines don't have the ability without serious internal mods and a custom cam for high RPMS . My 91 with a 3.1 was rated at 140hp . please enlighten us . Rob

ok here is a list of some of the things which i have done to my car, Cold air intake with a K&N air filter, headers with a flowmaster exhaust, perfomance module, performance distributor, NGK V groove (or power) whatever their called plugs, Ram hood that leads straight to where my air filter is, i messed with a specific sensor in a way it is not supposed to be messed with and makes me use alot more gas, and i have put two other things on it and the only way anyone will ever find out what they are is if they can beat me in a race

i was told that superchargers are just for front wheel drive cars is that right or not b/c when it comes to these things i have no clue

hehe supercharger just for fwd?! the original sc's were put on muscle cars...and they sure as hell aint for fwds. =) all a supercharger does is borrow pwoer from the engine crankshaft (belt) and use it to drive an impeller which forces air into the intake... =)
