Do any of you AF enthusiast know the theory and operation of the Idle Air Control and how the IAC part itself actually works? Looking at the schematic, it appears that the IAC is a motor with dual windings, or two electro-magnets that move the plunger dependant upon which field is energized. Also, where can I get this part for a more reasonable price than $75.00 to $100.00? Re: '96 Corsica 2.2L IAC Question
I know the IAC works in conjuction with your computer to control idle and to control your car's idle under different conditions such as air conditioning compressor running, cold or heat, etc. The computer uses data collected from sensors such as TPS (throttle position sensor) and other sensors to control the IAC. The IAC is opened to increase rpms when air conditioner is activated and by controlling the motor in it and opening or closing the pintle valve. You should never push in on the pintle/spring. I do not know if this helps you or not.
Might check on EBAY, if you have already checked with all different parts houses. I see them on there for 2.2's from time to time.
