Bye Bye Si

My car was hit on the front right taking out the right fender, hood, bumper, and headlight. The insurance company didn't think it was worth fixing so they gave me a check for "total loss" Much less than I expected but with 2 accidents I got more than I paid for the car and I have lots of stuff to sell now. First asshole that hit me I got $1400. This accident I got two checks 1 from the asshole who caused it and the other asshole who rear-ended me resulting in a check for $1300 and a $500 check. I can't complain, although I really did like driving that car even though it was a 91 Civic Si. I'm still driving it back and forth to work while I get another car ready. In a way I want to fix it but is it really worth it? I can get all the parts needed (new aftermarket) for around $600 + paint or have a complete black front end or I could wait for the junkyard to get me a whole front clip. Fat chance of getting all nice parts.

I was going to strip it, sell the parts, & race it at a local oval track(stock class). Still leaning more towards this idea since I have a drag bike in the works.
Auto X to me is not enough speed.
Road racing with my Si was fun, but still slow and costs lots of $$$.
Drag racing my Si is pointless, it's way too slow.
That's why I went back to bikes, but that's costing me just as much. It's much easier/cheaper to run a 8-9 second bike than it is to have a 8-9 second Si. Plus my Si can't do wheelies

Re: Bye Bye Si

The car runs fine, I drive it 70+ miles a day to and from work. I am an ex honda tech/advisor. You can see what the car did look like in my gallery, link in sig to my pics. If I do sell it all the suspension will be returned to stock, stock honda radio - left channels cut in and out, the MSD ignition has been removed and converted back to stock - all listed on eBay. Shift light is removed. The windshield is cracked all the way across the bottom. My cousin has one waiting to be installed. Add $100 for that to for any offer.

The engine is a 1.6L ZC SOHC with who knows how many miles, it was installed around 120,000 miles car now has 170,000 something closer to 180K. All maintenance was done on time, all the time. It will need front brake pads and rotors, rear shoes, and that's all I can think of right now. The trans has been changed, clutch still seems fine. Even though I've been BEATING THE HELL OUT OF IT LATELY, not that I didn't before.

It needs both front fenders, right head light, both corner lights, right bumper light, front bumper cover/fill piece, and a hood. The hood isn't really too bad, just not up to par for my cars. There may be more damage I haven't removed the front bumper yet to check because I had no intentions of fixing it. Just racing it and having som fun, hopefully blowing up the engine!!!! If you are still serious about buying I could take a few pic's of the damage.

Re: Bye Bye Si

The 5 years I had that car it looked great until Jan. 20th. I'll miss it, but I'd rather see it go out in style. All hill billied for the oval track
My current project, well wating to be started, is a 92 plymouth laser turbo 5 speed. I got it for $350 with a bad engine. Found an engine for cheap. I never really cared for eclipse, talon, for laser cars. Think this is gonna be a money maker not a keeper. Body & interior are above average, even for me. No signes or previous ricer ownership, thank god.
