12v power access

I am in the process of installing my reverse glow gauges in my car and I have them installed and everything but the lights are not coming on. All of the instructions that I have come across so far has told me that I will need to connect it to the headlight switch assembly or the cigarette lighter adapter in order to get the proper power. I wasnt able to access either suggestion so I just attached it to the power of my cd deck. Of course this did not work (my guess is not enough power) Any way does anybody know how to access one or both of these points on a 92 cougar because this is really kicking my ass. All sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 12v power access

autozone.com has detailed instructions on how to remove the headlight switch. Seems like accessing the headlight switch would be a ten minute job.
