No Insurance/Failure to signal Ticket
The other day i was driving to my house from the store and right after i turned into my neighborhood i saw some flashing police lights behind me. I pulled over, rolled down the window and sat my keys on the dash and waited for the police officer to come to my window. We talk for a few mins and i show all my papers. The only problem was that i had an expired recipt for my insurance because i hadnt gotten the mail for a long time (my dad always gets it) so i had no insurance as far as hes concerned. So he wrote me a $650 ticket for no turn signal and no insurance and said i could show the judge my papers showing that i had valid insurance and they would drop the fine for the insurance. The only thing is, i use a bill pay thing thats suppose to deduct money automativcaly each month and send it to the insurance co but one month i ran out of money (unknowingly, i never know how much i have in the bank) and so the whole thing reset and the insurance company never got the money so they canceled my coverage. I didnt know that so ive been driving for about 8 months insuranceless.
I know im F'd in the A about the fines (Its cool with me though because thats at least $1600 i saved so im ahead about $1000 if you think about it)but i was wondering if there was any possability of having the judge reduce the fine when i go to court next week since it was accidental. I doubt they will but it would be cool if they did. Thanks Eric (damn i cant find the spell check button sorry) |

Re: No Insurance/Failure to signal Ticket
hopefully the judge will see that you have insurance now ??? and if you do he might reduce it, BUT you may have to pay for higher insurance for driving without it so long

Re: No Insurance/Failure to signal Ticket
Yeah, I'd say you have very little chance, unless the judge is feeling exceptionally benevolent. Chances are, even if this actually happened to you, he has probably heard it plenty of times before, from people trying to make up excuses. This is why I personally avoid automatic withdrawls. Good luck though.

Re: No Insurance/Failure to signal Ticket
You might be $1000 ahead right now, but insurance will drastically change that when this hits your record.
You may want to consider getting up to speed with balancing your checkbook and *knowing* how much is in there from now on or stuff like this is bound to continue. |
