open d/p vs. exhaust
i have a 3" d/p and apexi gt spec exhaust. what is better to do? have the exhaust connect to the d/p or to run open d/p? witch will give me more power and witch is safer for the car.

Re: open d/p vs. exhaust
If you have a typically designed MR2 downpipe it will be pointing toward the oil pan. Do you want a thousand degree flame pointing toward your oil pan?

Re: open d/p vs. exhaust
Open downpipe should give you better performance but as JekylandHyde said the downpipes for the MR2 point towards your oilpan.
Therefore the exhaust is "better" for the car. Also it will keep you out of tickets from making a lot of noise. I know in PA it is illegal to have a car without a muffler. If you want the best solution; make a straight pipe for the car. Don't run an open downpipe, extend the exhaust out to the back of the car but just don't use any mufflers. |

Quote:
open DP will yeild better results, but with problems just have an exhaust made for you that'll flow well, weigh nothing and keep you out of trouble
