Needin some help
hey, im new on here and i am just now learning to work this site out. i gotta question i hope some of you may be able to answer. i have a 2000 dodge neon with a Octane R-34 body kit,and i'm wanting to know what size tires and rims would look te best on my car. they are 15" right now and i still have alot of room left all the way around my fenderwelds. i was thinking about 17"? i would appriciate it if someone could give me some info on what would look best?

Re: Needin some help
Well if your going for looks only, I would say that 17's look the best but if its your daily driver then I would go with a 16 and a good low pro tire.

Re: Needin some help
17's would look good, but will slow acceleration down a bit, just so you know.

Re: Needin some help
personally i think if you go with 17's it won't look good. go with 16's so you can still see some rubber

Re: Needin some help
i personally think for looks, bigger rim and less rubber the better.., i'm not sure what your opinion is if it's the same as mine, but take a look at these pics, these 2 neons both have 18" rims.., they are my best budd's.., the one neon has the r34 body kit and it's slammed..

"To me" rim size looks fine, a little more rubber to fill in the wheel well would enhance the over all look just right.
Nice ride as is to!! |

Re: Needin some help
I would have to say go with a very nice 17" and low profile tires. Unless you can put 18" on and also be able to show alo of tire.

Re: Needin some help
Not at all man I think you got a bad tint job. Sorry.
It should only take the day that they put it on and maybe the next day. |

Re: Needin some help
If you are looking for performance and handling, it is the opinion of most Neon experts that 17" wheels are too big for non-turbo neons. Since you only have 110-115hp to the ground, large wheels will noticeably slow you down. A good compromise of performance and handling seems to be 16" for 2nd Gen neons and 15" for 1st Gen. SCCA racers actually run 14" on first gen neons with 205/60 -14 tires. The 1st Gen R/T's pull .85G's on the skid pad right off the showroom floor with junk Goodyear 185/65 -14 tires. So you don't need large wheels to handle well, you need a well tuned suspension first.
17" and 18" wheels do look nice and with this large of wheel, everyone will have plenty of time to check them out while you try to get your Neon rolling. |
