First Time/Warning! May contain stupid questions.

okay to start off, i have the 2005 Corvette C6 modeling kit and i have alot of questions.

Do you have to get the type of paint that it says on the box ? and should i get the can or the little bottle ?

How do you put the front wheels on ? because I'm having alot of trouble with that

How exactly do you put the decals on ? because the decals are so small and they won't stick

thats all for right now but i might have more later on and if you have any pics of yours already done could you post it plz

thanks

Hi
Welcome to AF hope you enjoy it here.
Please read the F.A.Q and tutorial sections which should cover most of your questions. About pics of the model do a search in all three forums. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Cheers Nathan

Hey man,

I am a complete noob. Trust me, the tutorials and the FAQ page are an incredible source of infomation. I know how hard it is find good info. If you are just starting out, there is nothing that you need to know that is not covered there.

Rosco is the newbie of the week!!!!!!!!

But to answer a question or two or one.... for new modellers, yes buy a can for the body color and buy the jars for other detail painting. do you have to paint the colors that are on the box? hell NO! do what you like, but generally the box info is a good guide line to making the kit look...welll.... box stock.... otherwise, do whatever you want.

Re: First Time/Warning! May contain stupid questions.

Well if you're new.. i would advise for you're first model to be rather to stick to the instructions... But if you want to something different go for it. there's a lot more to modeling than just replicating the box-art! For the wheels, hard to tell what you're problem is.. And for the decals... have you used it like the instructions say? It's logical that they slid and slide when they're still wet. And use some warm water (not hot, just warm) it will make the decals easier to work with.

Finaly, there aren't any stupid questions.. only stupid people (quote from chief southpark)

Welcome to AF!! Don't be frightened off if no one answers you right away. Some people just get annoyed after we see these questions asked about 5 times a week. Read FAQ. Tips, just be gentle and carefull when you are building. Try to stay cool and not smach the model you are working on. Although, probably most of us have come to a point where you get so frustrated, the model wishes it had never been sold to you hehehe.. Good luck on your models n00b!

For the first question..don't use the little bottle of paint unless you have an airbrush and thinner, the model will look like crap if you brushed it on, [trust me I've done it years ago on an impala, it was regretful] instead use the cans. as for brand names, its more of a personal taste. I personally like to use the tamiya cans since I do not own an airbrush. as for decals, use water and probably a tweezer or a q-tip to get it in place. Anyways good luck modeling, i hope you find this helpful.

Re: First Time/Warning! May contain stupid questions.

perhaps another tip.. you can use spray cans like motip, duplicolour, .... They are a lot cheaper than tamiya cans and they work great. Just use primer and paint from the same brand? And Yes you should invest in a primer for you're car body.
