Re: Idol's to high

Welcome to the forum, need more info . Was the engine hot when you washed it ? Is the check engine light on ? Is it throttle body or cpi ?
posibilities : throttle position sensor cracked ,wet :
Vacuum hose pushed off by water pressure :
manifold absolute pressure sensor filter wet/clogged :
Hope this helps some . Rob

I agree with Rmbodie, need more info, but I would be really looking at the TPS, I would be betting on it - if I were a betting man...

It was a little warm but not hot. At first taking off after washing it it studder really bad like their was water some where it didnt belong. After a little ways it smoothed out a little so i stoped and put high octane gas when i normaly use the cheap stuff. Now it runs perfect down the road, but idols high when you stop dont have to give it gas to take off it will take off by it self. In park idols high at first the will idol itself down alot but not like it use to and when you grab the shifter and start to shift anywhere it really rives up

Re: Idol's to high

Hey wants i get the idol thing worked out. I want to talk to yall about the best way to lift it a little and mudder selection. I bought it a week ago couldt ask for better running truck for $900.00 The guy i bought it from said he never used 4 wheel drive cause it didnt work but it was just the vacume line had fell off no telling how long ago. He sold it to me for 9 hundred and i mean it is in show room shape inside and out. He thought it was a 84 model not my fault he should no what he's got before selling something. I hunt alot and like to play alot so i bought it to fix up for a hunting and muddin toy. Also have a 1988 swb chevy truck just put a new 350 in it sanded all the way down no emblems for new paint just orderd new billet grill, tail lights and sport mirrorws of ebay wanting to fix it up slick sports truck. Have a 2000 intrepid, A 98 cuttles, and a dune buggy that took me three years to build have over 6 thousand in it that i will probably never see again but it's fun to play in

Re: Idol's to high

Sounds like you got a great price . Same thing I got mine for . I had the same intent. To set mine up for hunting that is . I wanted a street legal ATV with storage space. I downsized from a 77 fullsize K-5. I used to miss the power , but not anymore . I built mine up the way I dreamed of it . Two lift kits and Edelbrock performer package .If you have TBI system , I can tell you what I did to mine . Hunting is my everyday dream . Rob

Re: Idol's to high

sure thing , I have an edelbrock power pack , which is 500cfm 4 barrel carb, matching intake and cam .It is actually marketed for a marine 4.3 . Check it out at edelbrock.com.The 220 is really an estimate based on my previous vehicles pulling a loaded trailer and empty off the line acceleration . And the ability to turn over 31 x 10.50 from the line without braking it up . The torque is tremendous over what the factory setup was . I was having lots of problems with the TBI . I replaced everything but the computer trying to solve it over a year .And two well qualified mechanics were stumped by it too.
It pulls as good as my previous full size blazer with a built V-8 and better than my wifes previous jeep with the 190hp 4.0 L .
The only thing I lost was economy and cold start drivabilty , but has been worth the trade off. Rob
