30k mile maintenence?

Hey guys, I'm just a few hundred miles away from reaching 30k. What maintenence things should I do? I ask because I remember seeing a 30k mile maintenence job on a board at Mitsu last time I was there, and I want my baby running smooth now that it has a nice "grille" hah.

Re: 30k mile maintenence?

It's in the manual...

And I hate you for only having 30k.

Lol, if I had the manual, I wouldn't be askin. The mileage is nothing. Another DSMer over here found his 99 GSX with only 19k on it a little over a year ago!

I did my oil (mobile 1 full synthetic) and plugs (ngk bpr7es) about 1500 miles ago. So I really just need to do like the fuel filter and what else? I guess I'll prolly get some of that k&n filter recharger oil crap and clean it too. Anything else?

Re: 30k mile maintenence?

buy a bottle of injector cleaner for like 4 bucks and run your gas down to almost empty and add it along with a full tank.. should clear up injectors and intake valves as well as help your gas mileage.

Re: 30k mile maintenence?

Straight from the book... Every 30,000 miles...

*Inspect exhaust system
*replace air filter
*replace spark plugs
*check and replace if necessary the PCV valve
*Service the cooling system
*Change the automatic or manual transmission fluid lubricant
*Change the transfer case lubricant
*Change the rear differential lubricant
*Inspect the suspension and steering components

Have fun!

Re: 30k mile maintenence?

Wow. And I thought my car had low miles (54,000). For such low miles and it being a GSX too.....I know you paid a pretty penny for that one.

Re: 30k mile maintenence?

I work at lube shop, and if your car was to come in, they will recommend the tranny, transfer case, rear diff, fluid to be changed out, a fuel injection cleaning(you will be surprised how much of difference this makes) plugs and wires, air filter, fuel filter(i would wait on it since you only got 30k),radiator flush, tire rotation, and wiper blades lol

Re: 30k mile maintenence?

i just rolled 60k on my new 97 gst. I find that spyders often have lower miles then most hard tops. For the obvious reason that most people that can afford to only drive them in the summer.

You know...your right. I have never thought about that. Most all spyders I see for sale are around 50-60k.
