99 ford contour 4 cylener
my check engine light is on so i took it to auto zone to get it checked and they said there wasnt anywhere to hook the tester to check it .it wasnt under the dash on the driver side.does any one know how and where to check it.i need to find how to get the code for it.

its there, sometimes theres a screw on cap that goes on it

As of 1996, all cars sold in the us have to have an OBD 2 diagnostic port under the drivers side dash somewhere. I think Josh is right. It's got a little cover on it. Sometimes they also put it in the fuse block under the dash...
