92 eclipse low compression help...

so i blew my headgasket awhile back and had it machined just the other day. when i got it back i could see where their machine cut the edges of the valves..

now i did a compression check and all are around 35 (very low i know)

im just wondering if them shaving the edge of the valve is what is causing the low comppression before i go up there and cause all kinds of hell if it wasnt their fault.

any input is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Re: 92 eclipse low compression help...

i dont know how much was shaved cause my bro took it up there. the edges of the valves were shaved just a little...not even a sixteenth of an inch id say, maybe on a couple. anyways, they installed new valves for free. gonna put it back together this weekend i guess and find out if that was the problem.

Re: 92 eclipse low compression help...

things just keep getting worse...

put the head on and the compression went to 120..a much better improvement, but not good enough. so we did a leakdown test..went to 220 ...awesomeness, cept the damn piston rings are fried.

i really screwed this car over, but ive put too much money in to it already to stop now. gonna get some rings and oil pump, guess ill just rebuild it all.

Re: 92 eclipse low compression help...

I would take that head to another shop, and have it checked out. It sounds like they fucked your head up. I still don't understand how they shaved the valves, unless they left them it while they surfaced it.

Re: 92 eclipse low compression help...

I would never use that shop again. That's just plain lazy and irresponsible to leave valves in while surfacing.
