How long after you've eaten does your stomach start acknowledging the calories?

Ok so i want to know how long after you finish eating does your stomach start to store the calories or fat of whatever you ate?

depending on the concentration of fat in what you eat, somewhere between 3-6 hours.

no what i mean is not how long does it take to digest it, but how long to start digesting it.

It depends on the food - some food is more easily digested than others. PowerBars and other protein bars are designed to be broken down easily by your stomach acid - so your body can utilize the protein/carbos within a few minutes after you eat them. There's a protein paste called Gu that's designed to replenish nutrients immediately - it's used by bikers when they're on long rides so they don't have to stop riding to eat. It's a paste (not solid) so it's almost halfway digested for you when you eat it (it sounds gross but they make some tasty flavors).
