Hi everyone,
I have a crack on my right (passenger side) exhast manifold. I was wondering what is best to do to fix this problem. Should I try to have it welded while it is still on or should I just have it replaced with a new one? Does anyone know what the labor of a job like this should cost since I probably can't do it myself since I don't have a lift? Weleded? Replaced? Thanks, Geoff. |

Re: Repair or replace a right exhaust manifold?
replace it .. Im asuming you have an Xterra/frontier with the 3.3 motor. The crack on that manifold normally goes all around and can not be welded. It's kinda a big job to replace the cat conveter uasually has to comout with it. So it may cost a few dollars . If it'a older pathfinder then you Should Replace for sure and have them check if it's under warrenty . 100k for manifolds on paths from 96 to 98 or 99 i cant remember. It gets replaced withand updated manifold, redesigned . GL

Re: Repair or replace a right exhaust manifold?
FixUrNissan,
Sorry, if I have confused you. I have a J30. My mechanic said that there is a new design and parts and labor would come to about $1500.00. I am not sure what the new design is on the J30 (I have 1993) for a passenger side exhaust manifold, but I know that the passenger side manifold is only about 125.00 new from Infiniti of Scottsdale. I guess the labor would be around $1000.00. since my mechanic would order all of the parts locally. Thanks for your post anyway. Anyone else? Geoff. |

Re: Repair or replace a right exhaust manifold?
thats ridiculous for labor. it only cost me 800 to have a mechanic drop a twin turbo engine into my j30.

There are some from the Infiniti Parts Store online. If you have the tools and you can jack your car up enough to get under it you might be able to do it yourself (and the time). I wrecked a '97 J30 last year and I parted it out. It took me maybe 30 minutes to get both exhaust manifolds off of the engine (I took the engine and tranny out before scraping it). You also have to unscrew the O2 sensors but a wrench should do the trick. If you dont have the time then I guess take it to a mechanic. Just telling yah how oyu could save a crap load of money. http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...=1&catalogid=2 |
