Looking to gain knowledge on preludes, help?

Hey everyone. I currently have a '91 firebird, and i've had 11 f bodies (firebird/camaro) and a couple of mustangs, and i'am sick of it. I met a guy who is now a good friend who loved hondas, and i really got to loving the prelude, he recomended that I find a vtec h22 5 speed set up. Could you guys tell me how hard it would be to find that and what kind of price range that would be in, and if possible also it's stock qt mile times, and potential on a modest sort of progressive budget. I thank you for all of your help, and hope to be able to contribute to this forum in the future!
Jake

Re: Looking to gain knowledge on preludes, help?

H22 vtec was an option for 4th gen Preludes (92-96), and standard equipment in 5th gen Preludes (97-01). You can find a decent 4th gen for around $3500 but it'll probably have about 100000 miles on it. A well taken care of H22 can go for over 250000 miles. 5th gens cost between $6000-15000.

Most stock h22 preludes run mid-high 15 sec 1/4 miles.

4th gen H22's put out 190hp/155tq, 5th gens put out 200hp/155tq (higher compression). They are pretty well tuned from the factory so simple bolt-on mods won't get you that much...guys with the GOOD custom header/exhaust set-ups claim about 15-20hp gains. Cams and a good tune can give another 20-30 hp. Most guys go turbo if they want more.

Honda's are famous for having no torque - Preludes are no different.

i dont think this is a good place to gain knowledge on preludes. 99 percent of people in this forum just pretend they know something about cars.

Actually Ritalin is mostly correct. About 10 percent of us regular members actually try to help. The other 90 percent are like Ritalin, who is more of a troll than anything else. He won't last long here, but there will be another to take his place anyway.

Please don't insult Trolls like that. They are semi-peacefull bridge dwellers that drive Saturns, and Neons and just wanna work the rest of their weary days at Mc'y D's. He's more of a trogladite.

No, you are not a troll. I wasn't referring to you or anyone looking for answers to legitimate questions about their car.

For the most part Ritalin neither asks for help nor does he offer any.

Wikipedia: In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who comes into an established community such as an online discussion forum, and posts inflammatory, rude or offensive messages designed to annoy and antagonize the existing members or disrupt the flow of discussion. That's Ritalin, not you.
