96 Astro Heater

Does anybody know what the 96 astro used for a heater control valve? It's not the same old cable operated deal from the older vehicals i'm used to working on! It does not seem to talk about heater issues much in the haynes manual, i'm just looking for some basic info before I tear into it to see what's up with my lack of heat!

Re: 96 Astro Heater

Do the Air direction doors work properly?? If so, the temperature blend door is controlled by an electrical motor that is prone to going bad. It is located near the doghouse on the passenger side. Easier to see without the doghouse in place.

Re: 96 Astro Heater

Thanks, I will check it out. I just bought the van and the temp gauge dosent seem to be working and the heater puts out heat but not very hot.... Maybe a stuck thermostat and the temp gauge is working just the engine is always cold, but is it ever that easy? Can you check the air blend doors with out removing the heater unit, and how do you check if the motor is working properly (or if possible, out of adjustment)? -----Thanks for the help

Replace the thermostat, and make sure you bleed all of the air out before reinstalling the radiator cap. IF you still have problems, post back.
