door handle problem

i have a 91 grandprix with the stupied flimsy door handles. every once in a while my door handles would get too slack and stop working from the outside so i had to open the door from the inside and tighten them up. my problem now is my driverside door wont open from the inside either. has this happened to anyone before? im assuming all i can do is get in there with a coat hanger and try to hook the latch open, is there an easier way? Please help as im getting sick of climbing over the passenger seat all the time.

thanks,
joe

Re: door handle problem

The rod that runs to the latch from the handle has bent. There is no easy way to opoen the door once this happens. Once you get the door open, straighten the rods to original shape, both the one from the outside and inside handles, and keep the latch lubed up to prevent reoccurance.
