Need some help.

I finally got almost everything figured out. Then I noticed the main pulley's are vibrating, so much so that the timing mark on the timing belt cover is being worn.

The car is a '95 Metro, with the 1.3 liter 4cyl engine.

The problem that I had was that the timing was off, I finally figured out that it is off at least a couple of teeth, I was able to get it running, by moving the distributor past the allowable adjustment to it. It ran fine, and the timing belt also seems fine, but I think because the main pulley is vibrating that is what caused the belt to jump.

I would appreciate any input as to what I should do about this. I'm not sure if it's worth fixing, ( which I hope it is) or how much work this will involve, but considering I can get it to run, I am hoping that it is not that big of a deal.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I would plan on replacing the timiing belt and the water pump while in there. if the belt has slipped a couple of teeth the belt is stretched and won't get better by itself. Not sure what the vibration might be, but I just replaced a metro engine that had a messed up keyway on the crankshaft. The trick to doing the timing belt IMO is to loosen the water pump pulley bolts with the belts in place, and remove the RH engine mount so the engine can be jacked up and down to get access to all the fasteners. Thanks for the input, much appreciated, but I still need someone to give me ideas on why the main pulley's would be vibrating.

make sure the pully is indexed on the crankshaft correctly. there might be a locater dowel that isnt lined up correctly.

A common problem on the 1.3's is the woodruff key wears at the slot it sits in. These articles are a bit long, but will help you fix the problem. If you don't do something about it now, it will become a BIG problem

Thanks for all your help guys, It looks like I'm not going to be doing this now.
She wants to take it to a shop to have it looked at. I don't care I aint paying for it, and it's less I have to stress about.
