Sumo Power R34

I was gonna make just the standard Skyline OOB, but i decided to change it. It was gonna be an engine-less model but after seeing Hiroboy's Z-Tune i thought what the hell and decided to add engine detailing.

Reference Pics

Now this is the Sumo R34 "Ichban" (i think that wahats it's called). Mine will actually be a car built to a customer specifications.

Whats been done so far

Interior 90% complete - Need to paint the bucket seat and add the seat belt
Body 65% complete - Door handles. emblems and side repeaters shaved
Chassis and underside 45% complete - Rear diff done, front moderfied so and engine will be fitted

What needs to be done

-Repaint body
-Waiting on the Do-Luck kit from Chris at SAS
-Find an RB26DETT eninge paint and install it
-Add all of the relevant engine bits
-Finish intercooler
-Find somewhere where i can get Sumo Power decals

Now i just gotta find the engine and some rims. Cant decided whether to go for Do-Luck Double 6's or some Volk TE37's.

I have also dropped Hiroboy a PM asking about the templetes for the engine compartment. Just waiting on a reply. Once thats sorted I can get started on the engine compartment.

Next problem is the engine. Is there anywhere that sells the RB36DETT on it's own. I'd prefer not to buy the Tamiya R32 skyline but will prolly have to if i cant find one or even a second hand one.

What colour would do you all think would be best suited to the car, baring in mind that this is not Andy Barnes drag monster, but a customers car

Re: Sumo Power R34

I like the security system of military figures. Cant wait to see the progress on the engine.

I have seen on RB26 and SR20 sold seperately, they are horrible. All it was was the top of the engine...looked like the engine you'd find in a crappy diecast.

Good luck!

Re: Sumo Power R34

Looks like a cool project. Aoshima sold the RB26DETT for about 1,200 yen, but I'm not sure if the detail is as good as that in a Tamiya R32.

Re: Sumo Power R34

Cheers all.

Hiroboy, no worries chief. Thanks anyway mate.

Have started work on my own engine templates. They aint brilliant but they;ll do. Will have some pics up 2moro, outta glue and I need some putty for the holes in the boot lid and the door handles.

The military figs are my security, somehow my brother still manages to beat them.

Re: Sumo Power R34

Unfortunatley, my card reader has died. So no pics.
Still waiting on the Do-Luck kit from SAS. Was browsing thru Hiroboys store and found the set of wheels i intend on using.
Body is sanded and ready for paint. Decided on Audi Nimbus grey. Now to see if my local halfords has it in stock. If not it means a trip to BSS supplies to get a can mixed up.

Re: Sumo Power R34

Got the kit fitted. Just working on the fenders. Also gonna make the rear arches a bit fatter. Front arches are a bit different though. Have used fender flares added a litte putty but need some thiner plasticard to widen them a bit more. Gonna got get the paint mixed up.
Still considering wheels. After seeing Chris's work, I am tempted to get the double sixes.
Also waiting till I get apid then i can get the engine sorted out.
