86 300ZX vg30deTT swap?
i'm thinking of buying a complete vg30dett and transplanting it into my z31 body. why? cuz i am bored. that and i want turbo power, i know i will have to get a custom driveshaft, and rewire the ECU but has anyone done this? if so someone has any pointers? its either the vg30dett or sr20det ( i think a 4 banger in my old z would fly) but i'm leaning towards the vg30dett because of it's bigger displacement, and the fact I can squeze a little more out of it. but LMK what you guys think.

VG30DETT vs. SR20DET
Well...
You got your pro's and con's... PRO's for VG30DETT: -Can be serviced at any Nissan or knowledgeable mechanic -Parts can be found here and plenty of them -Aftermarket parts are here and plenty of them -Probably someone has done it on www.z31.org or can point you to who did -300HP stock...can hold up to like 500HP on stock bottom end CON's against VG30DETT: -Bigger & heavier than SR -Harder to work on due to VEE setup -Alot of VG30DETT's are ragged on by owners w/heavy right feet -Price of a VG30DETT $$$ in good condition PRO's for SR20DET: -Better weight distribution -Lots of up & coming technology and parts -Good support aftermarket wise -Unique swap -Rev's higher CON's against SR20DET: -From Japan -May not pass emissions in your state/province -Need someone VERY knowledgeable to set it all up -Do you know Japanese? Cuz it will help if you do...if you dont...lots of luck -Only good for up to like 400-450 on bottom end My choice: Go w/the VG30DETT if you got it all the info and how to...
