I wouldn't attempt this. There are short box trucks out there, go buy one if you want one. Also I really have a hard time following your post. So if I have misunderstood what you are talking about please let me know.

Re: 8 foot box conversion to 6

yeah i wouldn't even bother, that'd be so much unecessary work. go for it if you want but i probably wouldnt, just sell it as is. i really dont think it would sell better. you'd have to to cut the frame, realine the rear axel. the frame is built for a long bed truck axel, which has certain nooks and crannys which is designed specifically for certain things. you'll have to cut the frame, move your axel up more to where its not even suppose to be, and not to mention your brake line is long for your 8 ft bed, you'd have to fix ur brake line too. you'll soon have a safety issue with it out on the road. i wouldnt bother with this project. hope this helps

It will actually be worth even less if people know what's been done. Nobody wants a 'modified' vehicle, even if their intention is to do it themselves. We all want an original vehicle to modify ourselves so we know we screwed it up right.

Re: 8 foot box conversion to 6

I thought about doing this to my 88' longbed. I found out recently that my longbed is worth more than a shortbed. Have you thought about selling it, or trading it in?
