Question Exhausts

will an aftermarket exhaust from a KA24DE engine bolt onto a S14 SR20DET engine?

Well you can "say" any...but you probably want something w/at least a 3.0 inch piping...something very turbo friendly...

My opinion...get the Apex'i GT Spec...3.74 inch piping is very nice!

If you dont want that...get the Blitz Nur Spec R or the GReddy PE.

Dont get the Apex'i N1. (Bleech)

I was thinking of the Apexi N1 duals. Mainly for looks.......... But I have to say the GT spec is looking quite attractive to my performance mind LOL. It has much larger diameter piping and a straigher through design.

Is there an exhaust setup which comes decent (3in tip or less, and 'silent') 'cause I wanna try to avoid to be stoped by the police if cruising by

Isn't 3" exhaust on NA engines excessive? In preparation for the eventual SR20DET the large exhaust makes sense, but I thought I heard someone previously say that large of a diameter on NA engines is too big and performance will suffer. Is that statement correct.

from what i've heard from other 240sx owners in other forums. the apex i N1 duals is the best exhuast for the money. people with a dual can hit high 15's. when people with singles with headers and intake hits high 15's. sooo the dual equals to all bolts ons including the single. yup yup thats goin to be my exhuast soon too.

your torque may drop a couple of ft/lbs on the low end.... usually below 2k rpm or so. Also it will be a bit loud with 3" and NA. Turbos muffle the exaust.

additional clarification & question:

Is there such an exhaust which I could fit on my CA18DET and later on the SR20DET too?

exausts aren't designed around engines..... they are designed around the chasis. Most are CATBACK designs, when you swap in an engine the position of the cat is not going to change......any exaust designed for a 240sx will work on that chasis with any engine in it thereotically(as long as the cat position hasn't changed...most likely it wouldn't as this would cause some major customization, maybe if you put in a V8 or something it would use a diff exaust.

What kinda sound would the Apexi N1 dual exhaust make? Like would it be a low pitched, growling kinda sound...or a higher pitched sound?
Also, what other exhaust setups would give the car a low, growling sound?

wow, just looked up the apex'i GT exhaust and its so nice. with the SR engine, will the 3.74 in piping really help me out the most? since it is so big, is there anything else i will need to get like a downpipe to get it to fit right.

N1 BAD THINGS

It is obnoxiously LOUD...it's not a good loud...it's a bad loud...at least on NA cars...w/a turbo I am sure it would get softer...but dont get it. You will regret it.

3.0 Inch piping on a NA car is a bit too much...you will end up losing torque which is the KA24DE's trump card and you really dont want that happening. 2.5 inch piping is the best for NA b/c it is not as loud as somone said for NA purposes.

What exhaust would be good for an NA?..I'm looking for something that would give the most performance, and have more of a low pitched sound to it.
