Re: Cobalt Good Buy?

There are three different motor types for the Cobalt models.

1. Ecotec 2.2 - LS, LT -145 HP
2. Ecotec 2.4 VVT (Variable valve timing)- SS non-supercharged -175 HP
3. Ecotec 2.0 Supercharged - SS/SC - 205 HP (really has about 240 HP)

All the motors have great potential to make power. What car you should get just depends on your budget and what your plans are for it. If you plan on just a straight line speed car for cheap then get the Ecotec 2.2 and slap a Hahn turbo kit on there. If you want a decently priced car that is pretty good all around and takes to N/A modding and F/I well then get the 2.4 VVT.
If you want something that handles very well and can go up to 350+ hp without a rebuild then get the 2.0 supercharged SS.

Just go in and look at some and then decide. I went in intending to buy a SS/SC and I got a black one. I am very happy with it and I have had it for a week now. Only you should decide on what type of Cobalt to buy. Yes it is a sports car and it will be one of the cheapest cars to insure. Mine saved me about $20 over my Cavalier per month.

I traded my 04 Cavalier for mine.

There's quite a bit of difference between the base model cobalt and an SS. It's like you're not even driving the same car at all.

There is a huge differance when you get to the SS Supercharged. Mine has leather seats, power all, 7 speaker Pioneer with subwoofer in trunk and XM, 18 inch rims, spoiler. That's why I said to go look at them yourself.
