My automatic transmission went out. Took it to Aamco to have it check out. They want to rebuild it for $2k. I looked around for used transmssion for about $1k with 40K - 50k miles. I want to know if anyone have any problem with a rebuilt transmission. Need some advice on rebuilt vs. used. Any help is greatly appreciated.
My car has about 150k miles. Not sure if a rebuilt transmission is a good route. |

Re: 2000 Accord SE 4 cyl transmission problem
I had a very bad experience with Aamco in San Jose, CA. Florida's might be different thhough. They are all individually own as far as I know.

Yeah. I heard the same negative feedbacks from other people I talked to after I have taken my car to them to check it out. They priced me $2300 to rebuild my transmission. I want to put in a used one with low mileage (40k-50k). They insisted to rebuild by lowering the price by using used parts to rebuild. Also, the warrenty will reduce from 12 months to 6 months. That worries me. I am SOL. I owed them $400 to take it apart from inspection. I am out of option. Thank you for the information.

Yes, that was how they got me with the "FREE" check up. I paid them once. If I remember correctly something around 2,000 dollars. And ater 6 months I had to pay them the second time. I am sorry to hear that they got you too...
