I have just purchased a 99 extended cab silverado. My book says there is an air filter in the pickup cab. Also in my glove box there is a sticker that says, "compartment air filter located under instrument panel below glove box."
I've looked I can't find an air filter. Is it there? Do you have one and what does it do? Sorry about all the questions. Thanks in advance, Trey |

Re: Passenger Side Air Filter?
They sell them at most auto parts stores. They kind of look like the air filter for your motor but smaller.

Re: Passenger Side Air Filter?
Hey guys, just curious. Do all silverado models now have this cabin air filter, or only the nicer models. I have the 04 wt silvy and wonder if it has one since pretty much everything else was stripped out. May want to change it one day, you know.

Re: Passenger Side Air Filter?
Found them
. I didnt hav to take out any gold screw. Mine was just held in by a clip and i just had to use a flathead screwdriver to pop it open. Took me awhile to find tho. Theres instructions on how to do it in your owners manual but not all trucks have them

Re: Passenger Side Air Filter?
They also make a charcoal air filter, I will go with that one next time. There are 2 filter elements that fit in the passenger side area, they usually come 2 to a box.

Re: Passenger Side Air Filter?
Be sure you change em both. I have heard of some not seeing the other filter in the back. And yes, when these filter get funky, it can really make your truck smell like you riding around with a bag of ass. lol
FYI, found mine here at Pep Boys if anyone is having trouble. |

Re: Passenger Side Air Filter?
Yup;
Mine too were naaasty! http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...6&postcount=11 I don't smoke; so I don't think the charcoal ones will do anything for me. Carbon only used in my fish tanks; not my truck. |

Re: Passenger Side Air Filter?
For those who have replaced their cabin filter, do you think that the Fram filters is worth almost twice as much as a Purolator? Fram-$31.48, Purolator- $16.88 at least around here.
