also be aware ...... if the tach cable is broken (most likely), it will cause your check engine light to go on

I have had a problem with that too. My car is an automatic, and when it gets into the high RPM's of 2nd and 3rd gear, or when it is stressed (like going up a steep grade) the check engine light comes on and i get a jolt of power before it kicks into the next gear. Somtimes it is sluggish when starting out too. Also it comes on whenever I get up around 90 mph. I took it to a guy who used to work for Honda and he put it on his machine and told me I had a bad oxygen sensor. $200 later I still have the same problem. I would bet money the light comes on whenever I reach a certain RPM, but since I don't have a tach, I don't know for sure. Has anyone else had this problem or ever heard of someone having it?

any sensor thqat malfunctions will make that light come on. It is not RPM sensitive (that I know of) ........ when you hit a certain point past redline, the EFI system will cut off the fuel to keep the RPM's in the safe range.

maybe you could just forget about that tach and get another tach that mounts onto your dash if the one in your cluster is too hard to get out. Then you could just put a pic of your girlfriend or wife or whatever in your cluster over your old tach.

LOL

I like the monster tachs with the shift light, but that would be kinda stupid in an auto. I would like to keep the ghetto-ness to a minimum. Also, when my car decides to be gay, its not even close to bein redlined. Its has to be at 4 grand max, I can tell by the sound. So far I got a new distributer cap, new plugs, new O2 sensor, and it hasn't fixed it. I'm about ready to throw a 100 shot of N02 in her and have some fun while I blow the engine to hell!
