I don't have a manual for this Kia ( 1997 sportage 4wd manual transmition 4 door ) . After about 2 hours I was able to remove the outer bolt, I can't even see the remaning bolt ! What ? do I have to pull the engine to replace the starter ? On the verge of insanity please help. ........anyone.....anyone......Bueller....Bueller.

Re: 97 sportage starter removal, whats the trick ?
Its not as hard as it seems .the 3rd bolt hiden is easy if you use a 36"extention 14mm deep well remove battery and plate you can see the bolt run the exstention up have someone watch the way it comes up he she can tell you up or down once your on it its a done deal.make sure the starter they give you is the same we ask for a auto they gave us a auto but the manuel is the one that came out of it one is longer then the other and you cant get it turned to go into the bell houseing.unblot the hot wire and the other wire after you get it to come down.it takes some turning and holding your mouth right but with alittle trial and error you can do it
