Re: Amx Gt

Nope, no models of that concept. You'd have to take an AMX (not too hard to find and about to be reissued) and a Gremlin (long OOP and rare and expensive) and a lot of styrene massage to get that. One guy came close w/a similar design that he built, but different as well-and at least one other has attempted this car but never finished.

If anyone ever does successfully build this car they should get it resin cast.

Re: Amx Gt

You've piqued my interest with this one. Now if I can just find someone to loan me a Gremlin body to cast for the conversion...........

I want one too. I hope it doesn't take as long as the MGB GT and Studebaker CV

A few years back I squandered an opportunity to meet w/the owner of an AMX-3 to take a full round of pics and dimensions to master that one

Is that using the Aoshima / Airfix B roadster? One of my future projects is converting a Gunze Austin Healey Sprite Mk1 (Frogeye) into a Mk2 (same shape as an MG Midget) with the MGB kit as a donor, which should keep me busy....

Yes, it's based on a resin body created from a master I did years ago for All American Models (the first non-American subject from them ). Started w/the Aoshima MGB, did drawings and a wooden buck for the roof, vacuum-formed the roof structure from .060 styrene, applied it to the convertible body, cut out the windows and detailed it out. Not a huge market for it, but it's been OOP and unavailable for years and there is a small hardcore group of people that want one badly and it's the only buildable example that exists. I believe the resin body is being improved upon further by Matt.

Stay far, far away from the white metal MGB GT from England (Small Wheels??). It's kind of like my original master-the whole roof is separate from the body

Re: Amx Gt

Chad,

See me at the MAMA meeting or NNL East (I'll be working Norman's RMCoM tables again this year). The body is pretty accurate for my early '69 GT:

http://public.fotki.com/mjcole/centr...002/page3.html

You can also see a photo of the casting I have to work with.

BTW, the Mid-Century modern home magazine I was telling you about is called "Atomic Ranch." For some reason, there website hasn't been working. I did pick up the latest (Spring '06) issue at B&N last week.

How's THAT for OT?

Matt

Re: Amx Gt

Norman will be there. I just stand behind him and shove stuff at people.

Anybody have AMX GT reference? I can only find two photos of it on the web.

Matt

Re: Amx Gt

The real full Gremlin kit is rare, but the Gremlin modified was reissued by AMT and there are a few at my LHS. Wouldn't you only need the back end of it for the conversion? The only body part that is included in the Gremlin modified kit? Or is that part so massaged that it wouldn't work?
