Need help - changing an alternator
I need some help. I am currently changing the alternator on my dads '99 f150, 4.6L. The problem I'm having is getting the damn belt loose. What do I need to loosen the tensioner pulley?. Or, is there any kind of guide, with pictures
that can run me threw the entire process of pulling off the alternator? Thanks a million Master_Debator |

Re: Need help - changing an alternator
Always buy a repair manual for any vehicle you own if you plan on working on it yourself. I use the Haynes manuals and you can get them at most auto parts stores. And yes they have step by step instructions and pictures. Good luck.

Re: Need help - changing an alternator
It should be a 3/8" ratchet for the tensionor. three or four bolts should hold the alternator on. BE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY! hope this helps!

Re: Need help - changing an alternator
Well judging from the year the poster first posted this issue, I'm thinking he may have actually fixed the problem a few years ago. but hey good advice otherwise.
